How do I park a car in a parking lot?

How do you get your car out from a parking lot if they parking lot people park another car blocking it in?

  • I walked by a parking lot today and the entire back row of cars were all blocked in by the front row of cars. Everytime I see a parking lot that does this, I wonder what happens if the person who owns the car in the back comes back first? Do the attendants have the keys or the customer retains the keys?

  • Answer:

That's how valets park the cars and they have all the keys. They used to leave the keys in the car but these days they're in the valet podium. The downtown Macy's in Houston built in the 40's or 50's had fire poles and moving ladders for the valet parkers to go up and down the parking levels quickly, all so that they could get more cars parked in the same space. In the parking storage lots that cars get towed to, they use a forklift to move the cars around. In the 80's some subdivisions like the one my parents house is in were designed with parking lots within walking distance that a valet company could use if you had valet parking for your house party. Last time, I visited, the developer had decided to build houses on that parking lot.
