    if you plan on taking the interstate, good luck if you leave after 6am. backroads are the key. your best bet is Route 123 Ox Road. It will eventually turn to Chain Bridge Rd which will go right to Tyson's Corner.

Unless you have flexible scheduling and can arrive work at 4AM or 11 AM - VA 123 is a parking lot from Fairfax to Tyson's. Unfortunately, VA 123 is the only direct and practical way between the two areas since I-395 and I-66 take you out of the way. Maybe the VA 123 widening helped a little south of Fairfax but there's still the 2 lane stretch through old town Fairfax. Your only practical bet is the Fairfax County Parkway to the Dulles Toll Road or take the narrow and dangerous country roads to reach VA 7.
