Where is a good road trip destination in california?

Has anyone ever taken a road trip from Canada(British Columbia) to California?

• My parents and I are taking a trip to California and we are leaving from BC, Canada and I was wondering if anyone has ever taken a road trip and has any suggestions for sight seeing. The last time my parents drove down there they didn't stop to see anything but this time we are going to have a very leisurely trip. So please if you have any suggestions please tell me some good places to see. We are planning on driving down the I5 and then when we reach California we are going to take the coast highway(not sure what it's called)

  I did have been Los Angeles to 100 Mile House BC (late '70's.) Have been L.A. to Seatle, the hard way, which is what you are talking about. The Interstates are not nearly as much fun as the old roads. I would just a little on I-5 just to Burlington and catch WA-20, across the ferry, south until you connect with US-101. You follow the Olympic Park/Forest, south down Washington coast, Oregon coast (took me a couple of days there was much to see!) into California, seeing the Coastal Redwoods, until you hit Leggett. Legglett is the north end of CA-1 and you continue down the coast through San Francisco and CA-1 the southern coast into Los Angeles. Maybe continue into San Diego. 1740 miles, 2800 kilometers, about 37-40 hours of windshield time ... about seven or eight days.
