What company sells cheap insurance for learner drivers?

Should I get my drivers licence or motorbike licence?

  • I'm in NSW, Australia, and a lot of jobs I am qualified for are not located within a short distance of public transport. I'm thinking that being independently mobile will definitely increase my chances of being employed, but should I go for a riders licence or a provisional driver's licence? I currently have a learner drivers licence, but only have about 20 of the necessary 120 hours worth of supervised driving needed to be able to sit the driving test to get my provisional licence. Car pros and cons Pros + I can carry plenty of passengers, groceries etc + Can use company car or similar small vehicle + The first 10 hours of professional driving instruction gets counted as 30 hours Cons - large costs between petrol, driving instruction, buying car and paying insurance etc - peak hour traffic if end up taking Sydney job - could become DD or taxi for non-driving friends Motorbike Pros + can ride without supervision in a few weeks after only about 2 tests (totalling maybe $120) + cheaper to buy and run, possibly even rego + easier to find car parks and avoid traffic jams (even if other motorists hate me) Cons - I've never ridden a motorbike (I think I can handle it though) - can't carry passengers or many items unless using sidecar (adorable but cumbersome) - more likely to die if some idiot crashes into me So, I don't know what to do. For either mode of transport I'd have to wait a few years until I had a full (black) licence, but at least on a motorbike I don't have to worry about finding and paying for a driving instructor to supervise me (the parent supervision thing is too stressful and they live a while away). Which would you choose?

    Traveling in Australia can be tough especially in the Outback. I suggest a car. You can relax a little. On a bike you have to position your body properly the entire time making it very painfull if you're planning on riding for hours at a time. I say get the drivers license. Motorbike is better for shorter trips like 0-50 miles

Why not test for both, and keep your options on the transport mode available for the daily needs and conditions?

Here in the US, you have to get your drivers license before your motorcycle endorsement anyway so I'd say drivers. However, i dont know how things in the UK work.
