What PA towns are near nyc?

Best commuter towns in NY,NJ or PA for work in NYC.?

  • My family and I want to leave Brooklyn in search of more space for less money and better public school options. I need to commute to NYC and it would be ideal for the property to be within walkin distance to a train as well as local stuff (stores, etc.). The other aspect is that it must be in a good area for public schools. We would prefer to rent a house and not buy. Any ideas are welcome!

  • Answer:

Bergen County has pretty good schools, and the astronomical property taxes that go with them. At least you'd get some benefit of those. There are also a couple of NJTransit lines that go through these towns, plus a whole bunch of bus lines. Down side is there's no Life here. Everything closes at night & there's nothing open on Sundays. Beyond that, there are plenty of NJTransit serviced towns in North and Central NJ. Some are more sketchy, so maybe not so great for raising kids. Some have lower property taxes too, but NJ is pretty much the worst state for property tax. I figure it's better to buy than rent, though, since the market is down for housing. If you get tired of NJ you can at least rent the place out.
