Would it be weird to have my mom turn in my application?

How to convince my mom to let me ride my bike to work?

  • I am 15 and i go to high school. I have a good opportunity for a job where my sister used to work. but before i can turn in my application, i have to make sure i can get there. but being 15 i can only work until 7. school gets out 2:50. my mom gets off around 5. obviously it wouldnt work if i got a ride from them. but i can get a ride home FROM work. the thing is, if i can get a bike to my school, then i could very easily ride to work after school. its ten miles but i really would love to do it. i dont know if she will let me. how could i convince her to let me do this.

    NOT a good idea. TOO dangerous for a 15 y/o (or anyone ELSE for that matter) to be riding around after dark and for that many miles. If your mom says NO she's a good mom. Obey her. P.S. you said you want to work until 7. It's dark at 7 in most places.......

She is not suppose to let u do it.If she does she will responsible for anything that came out of ur early driving.PLease don't argue.U are 15 & still not enough to know what's out there in the street for u kid.A lil of ur stunt or an angry driver is what it takes to kill u.

Much depends on the roads and neighborhoods you will be riding on. Your mom will worry more about some more than others. Better to assure her you will go the long way around than somewhere dangerous. (Like riding on the freeway). You should also have a cell phone so you can phone home if there is a problem (I am on Spruce street and have a flat tire) and to call home to let them know you made it safely.

Tell her what you told us. Call your uncle and talk to your dad too. Mothers can be so scared for their sons to make advances in life. You need more people with understanding to help plead your case- unless when you say "bike", you mean motorcycle. I snuck and bought my first motorcycle and my mother has a flaming fit. After my father and I had a talk about it, she cooled off.

It's also illegal in many places to ride on the sidewalk. For your sake, do NOT ride on the sidewalk. If you ride properly on the road, just as you would drive a car, you are actually safer riding a bike than you are in a car - your lifetime risk of being killed is half that of a motorist. Personally, a ten mile commute is more than I would do. It's going to take you an hour each way. If you want to do that, more power to you.
