Are there any charities that accept large appliances as donations?

I want to get rid of car that won't run. What reputable charities can accept it? What can I get from junkyard?

  • The car is a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII. It won't run and is not worth fixing. What's my best option for getting rid of it, giving it to a charity or selling it to a junkyard? Charity-related questions: * I'm assuming that there are charities that accept junk cars (that won't run). Are there? * I went to http://www.charitynavigator.org/ to find a reputable charity but can't narrow the search to ones that accept donations of cars. Do you know of any such charities (not middlemen) nationwide or in the Long Island, NY area that accept cars? Junkyard-related questions: * What would a junkyard pay me, approximately, for the car if they towed it away from my house? Would they pay me anything or simply remove it free of charge?

  • Answer:

I don't know about where you live but here in the UK the scrap people are offering £100 minimum per car and they will collect it from you so try ringing around.
