Has anyone actually bought a car using RideSafely?

Has anyone here bought a car using ebay?

  • I have seen a few cars on ebay motors which I am interested in but skeptical about buying a car online especially if it is not local. Have you bought a car on ebay? Do you recommend it? please tell me your experiences.

  • Answer:

I have bought Big trucks (tractor trailer trucks) on ebay. Some very high dollar deals. Always take an independant mechanic to check the vehicle over.test drive it without the seller in the car with you. and never send a non refundable deposit until you have checked the car out first, and even then never send a deposit for more than what the listing costs would be.(alot of sellers want a deposit to cover listing fee just in case you aare a dead beat bidder. Talk to the seller on the phone (preferably a land line) You can get a good feel for a person by talking to them and asking questions and see how they answer. If they are irritated by you asking questions,BEWARE! I have met some really great people from ebay deals, but I have also met some total a_s holes, and some out right thieves. Do your home work,Do not make an impulse buy and you will be fine. CHECK ALL FEED BACK also. Rob in PA.

Yes. I bought mine about a year ago and it's great! I Did buy it within the state though and looked at it before bidding on it. It was a private couple and not a shady dealer selling a "curb-stoner" which is a headache car that they try to sell curb-side and act like a private person!

i never have, but be careful, some people try to take your money, take a test drive, experience is different for every buyer, depends on the seller------

my ex-husband and I did (when we were married). We were living in Nebraska and bought a police impound vehicle from somewhere in florida, real cheap about $500.00 or so. no problem. We had to pay for them to deliver it from florida to denver and he went and picked it up from denver to Western, NE. No problem (other than needing to clean it out a bit)... Just becareful when you do to make sure you take care of all details, especially if it is from out of state. Make sure they know what you want and need (delivery, ) and that way you can actually get it. Police impounds are the best I think. They make sure it is good and you won't get ripped off.

Yes, and it was a nightmare. I finally sold it for half of what I paid. They do wonders .with pictures and narrative. I don't recommend it

I have a friend who did. Thought she was getting a great deal from a dealership, but it ended up needing $2500 worth of repairs and had all kinds of dents and things she couldn't see in the pictures. Bad idea.
