What can i put into a car to make it worth more?

  • hi, I'm going to buy a crap car and fix it up to sell it for more then the parts i put into it and car put together to try and earn some money. i need to know what should i do to make the car more valuable. should i fix up the engine? maybe a new paint job (if needed) what would make the car more valuable for resale? give me some ideas on what the car will need to raise its value

If it's a piece of crap to start with the best thing that you can do is detail the car and make it look as good and clean as you can. You can very easily spend more money on a car like that than you will ever get out of it.

Apart from a full tank of gas? Buying/fixing and reselling autos can be a risky business, unless you can get your inventory dirt cheap. And have a line on wholesale parts and supplies is helpful. Doing the work yourself is also a good thing. Appearance is probably the first place to spend, unless the engine is in need of repair. Sometimes you can find good deals on straight cars that just need a new engine or transmission. If you can replace the engine for a reasonable price, and the interior and exterior are nice, you can make some dough. I don't suggest you sell cars that you know have engine/tranny/drive train problems without disclosing that to the buyer. Especially if you want to sell on a somewhat regular basis. But let's face it, many people are only interested in the looks. Good tires are also a big plus.

It doesn't matter what you buy, as long as its dirt cheap and you fix it for dirt cheaper. look around you city for craigslist, there are lots of mechanics specials there. anything from a hit car to a blown head gasket. now if you dont know how to fix cars stay away from that business, it will cost more to have it fixed up than what the car might be worth. you can buy cars that have bad paint job and have it either waxed and detailed or painted. options are endless, it will work out as long as it is DIRT CHEAP to have it looking decent enough. clean engine bay + clean interiors + good tires are the first thing people look at.

Ever see a british tv show called " Wheelers Dealers", it is about just this. The only thing that would make sense is getting a low ball price and only one that needs things that can be fixed cheap. Electric switches rather than window motors. Body work, if able, is labor intensive but not heavy in parts costs. Front end bushings can fix a poor handler. Cleaning and buffing. Tuning up and cleaning engine bay. Brake shoes/pads. Parts from junk yards.
