What are AWD sports cars?

Fast sports car for 7k?

  • So i have saved up about 7k and am looking for a sports car. i have a daily driver ( 1980 jaguar XJ6) and just want a weekend driver that will be blast to take the track. i live about 3 hours from san fran so i want something track worthy. i am not into thrashed americana (IROC-Z, Z/28, older corvettes, mustangs,etc.) or into 80's/90's Japanese cars ( 240sx, RX-7, Supra's, Eclipse,ETC) as these are usually REALLY beat up. I am not saying i don't care for these types of cars i just want something that isn't the usual beat up crap people are trying to off now that they broke something, get me? I want something preferably manual (or something with a really nice quick auto) and RWD or AWD... FWD ONLY ON SMALLER CARS i.e. mini's, FIATS, Alfa's VW's. Something that has a huge aftermarket IS A +++++++ i.e. B5 S4's, M3's, GTi's, and most american v8's.

    A Trans Am or Camaro from 1998-02 with the LS1 engine has huge aftermarket, and will still get you 0-60 in 5 seconds stock. Comes with a nice 6-speed manual. Also, a 1994 or older mustang foxbody will be well under your budget, giving you room to do a good amount of mods that will get you a very fast car. A1997 or newer corvette will probably be the fastest, but slightly higher than your budget. A g35 (skyline) is pretty good, as well as a 350z Also, miatas, though not the greatest for straight line performance, have superb handling and value All above are RWD, best for performance and handling, unlike a lot of imports.

Try a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT4. They are fast and give off a great noise, especially for a 4 cylinder. It is FWD though but its cheap to modify and go fast, turbocharged and they handle like they're on rails. My father has one and he has it up to about 330 WHP and 350 wheel torque. The total cost of the upgrades is about 2K (he also has springs).
