Are Saab 9 3 cars comfortable and reliable used cars?

Buying used 2000 Saab 9-3 Turbo?

  • I have been looking to buy a used car within the price of $2,000. After a month or so of looking I found a 2000 Saab 9-3 Turbo with 192,000 miles on it. I drove it, rand good, and it was very clean inside with leather, sunroof, all the options. I don't know much about the Saab cars but is there anything I should be aware about with the cars body or engine before I buy it. The dealer is asking $1750 for it but I will try and get it lower.

  • Answer:

9-3's used to be decent cars, but then when Saab merged with GM... they kind of went to heck. GM took all of the Saab electrics and swapped them out. So, afterward, they were prone to some gremlins. Saab then started getting their turbo systems from Mitsubishi, and they were "usually" solid, but VERY costly once they needed work. Are they fast? No. Are they considered "luxury"? No. I wouldn't touch it without spending $50-100 and having a licensed mechanic check over the vehicles thoroughly.
