Anybody ever used an auction site to get a car?
-
I want to get a car (at a cheap price); I was wondering if anybody ever used one of these sites (specifically seizecar.com or gov-auction.com) I'm mostly considering these two. I know that car-auction.com only give you a list a websites to go and nothing else (which sucks). I was wondering if the first two were any different, you don't have to go to another website to do your search and they would give you actual auction locations...

No matter which website you use, be sure you do your research on the car you are considering purchasing. Order a Carfax report, check the history on the vehicle, and be sure to check out what type of title it has, especially if you are obtaining financing through an institution and not paying in cash. Some loans won't allow you to purchase cars with certain types of titles (i.e. salvage title and the like). Lastly, order an inspection of the vehicle. Once you are clear on the true condition of the vehicle, you are in a much better position to know what is and what is not a good deal. One other thing: check the kelly blue book value (kbb.com, I think). This give you a ballpark range on the intended value of the car in question, taking into consideration the condition and all. Hope this helps.
Forget those sites, they are a rip-off, They will only give you imformation that is already available for free if you look for it a little.. If you want to buy at an auction look up local auction in the yellow pages or on the web. Then you can see what you are getting. You can get a good deal, but you have to be careful.

I've used both and prefer seizecars.com because they give you a list of available cars in your area and also auctions that sell more than just cars. mycarauctionreview.com has more info on all of the sites you mentioned.

Some of these sites are OK and some not, so make sure they have a money-back guarantee in case you are not happy with the service. Here's an article that explains how the services work: http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carauctions.htm .
