Are American cars still built in the US? Why do so many Americans refuse to buy our cars?
-
This is BS! I heard that they have outsourced most of our US automobile plants to China and other countries! If so, why? I understand that other countries can build our cars cheaper, but that is not a valid excuse to send our jobs somewhere else and put American workers out of jobs! If other countries are building our cars cheaper, then why haven't they dropped the prices on them enough to compete with Japanese cars and those from different countries? People often refuse to buy our cars because they say foreign cars are better quality and cheaper. I'm sure all the US car companies realize that, but they obviously don't care. Because they have done absolutely nothing to fix the problem! When will they do something to fix that? I know one problem already is the unions in the US keep insisting that the workers get paid $50/hour or more to just stand there and put parts on the cars as they go by on the line! Then they keep fighting to get them more money! WTF! It's not like you need a Harvard degree to put parts on a car! Those people are as greedy as pro baseball players! There are Thousands of jobs that are harder than working on the assembly line and tons of jobs which require a college degree that pay much less than they make, and you don't hear those people crying about it every day! Now the fact that a lot of US cars are being built somewhere else for less money has not brought the price down for our cars. Why? How and when are they going to fix this? They need to do something soon to correct this issue, so we can sell more US cars and fix our economy. That would save our jobs and keep more of our money in this country. The way it is now way too many people are buying foreign cars and not the ones we make. Those are the hypocritical people who complain that they got laid off and can't find a new job! It is their own fault! Quit complaining and buy American, so we can fix the problems! I never have and never will buy a foreign car! So please don't blame me!

Answer:
Goodness. To be so naive. You didn't mention 'UAW' or 'GM retiree pension plan' anywhere in your rambling. Both of those fit into why Domestic car companies outsource labor (cost) and don't reduce the price of the vehicles. As long as the Big 3 actually build cars people want to buy, consumers will buy them at the prices they are now. It took about 30 years, but they are finally figuring that out. Ford and Chrysler sales are way up in the last 6 months and both companies are starting to hire American workers again.

If you owned a company selling manufactured products and could get them built in China by workers making 40 dollars a day instead of union workers over here making 40 dollars an hour, what would YOU do??????? Oh YEAH, you would be HAPPY to keep those jobs here..........RAH RAH SURE........... Wake up man......
been there, done that.
Sorry to burst your bubble buddy. But American cars aren't even American anymore these days. Ford and GM cars use imported parts inside their cars. Some aren't even built in the US.. They're assembled in Canada and Mexico. Why do you think people don't care anymore??? Because American cars aren't 100% American anymore. It sucks I know, but what can you do?
Man
Some American cars ( some models of GM,Ford& Chrysler) are assembled in Mexico and Canada and some Japanese and European cars (Kia,Hyundai and BMW 3 series) are assembled in the US. Parts for all cars are manufactured through out the world. New cars are World vehicles!!!!
Bill
No actual Chinese cars are sold here, though China does contribute to the parts channel. (Volvo Cars is owned by a Chinese firm, though no Volvos are built in China at this time.) And rather a lot of "imports" are actually built in the States, while plenty of "domestics" are assembled in Canada or Mexico. The UAW doesn't have anywhere near as much clout as it used to.

Yeah seriously, I'm so tired of the stupidity of Americans! Because in the end, even if you buy a Japanese car and it is made in America, the majority of the profits go into the economy and the pockets of the lousy Japanese!! Yes, many American cars are built outside the U.S., but the MAJORITY of American cars are built HERE in America, and you can't say the same thing for the Japs/Koreans. Most Jap/Korean cars are built in Asia! So I will keep buying American, to help our weak American economy!
