How do you get into used car auction?

HELP on used car dealership title info..?

  • I was hired at a used car dealership doing title work, which I know nothing about. They told me when the title comes from the auction and a customer purchases the car in the title paperwork I'm supposed to forge the customers signature, include all the companies info, sign my name, and then take it to the dmv. They said this is how all dealerships do it so the customer doesn't have to come back in and will get their title in the mail from the state. Signing somebody elses name doesn't seem right to me- is this really how it works??? I don't want to get in trouble.

    It seems odd to me that with all the qualified people looking for jobs these days, they would hire someone who knows nothing about the job, but anyway, Quit. If this comes back, the dealer will deny any knowledge of your activities, and YOU will be the one in hot water. Not them.

I know that when i bought my last car from a dealer they had ME sign the title and paperwork. This is not legal and is considered forgery. You should contact the local DMV remain anonymous and ask them what the rules are and the possible penalties. I wouldn't recommend forging anybody's signature on anything. THis dealership is probably doing dirty business, most are very crooked these days, watch out.

Only do that if you want to go to jail. It is against the law to forge a signature. Why would any dealership hire someone that has no experience in titles is beyond my imagination.
