What is the best used car to buy? Honda Civic, Toyota Carolla, Nissan Sentra, Ford Focus?
-
I'd prefer to buy Ford as my grandfather and uncle worked for there company. I'd like to keep the automotive profits in the US even if the toyota, nissan, and honda plants are here. However, I really like the design and quality of the competitors. Feedback please?

Answer:
I used to drive a focus, and it was a great little car. I had no major problems with it, it was great on gas, it has enough power for a small car (if you get the Zetec engine), and you're right, keep the profits in this hemisphere.

The Honda and Toyota are the only ones worth looking into as far as I'm concerned. Whatever emotional ties you have to Ford need to be put aside! These cars statistically outlast the others. I've driven all of them.

i used to have a nissan sentra... it was my first car actually. it ran forever just needed oil changes... by the time it died( i was rear ended and insurance company totalled) it had 250,000 miles and NEVER needed any real work other than routine maintanence. I would sugest the nissan or the toyota. I share a honda with my husband and i hate the way it drives its a good reliable car but to me its just uncomfortable short turning radius, brakes dont feel right... blah blah blah but i cant say enough good things about the sentra

Honda civic = most fun to drive don't buy a ford for those reasons -you don't owe Ford anything it's their own fault there are where they are now buy a car you enjoy that is of good value

Honda Civic
HEY HEY HEY
They are all good choices. My suggestion would be to go test drive all four, and just see which one you like the most. Tell the salesman that are driving the other three, and in fact tell him you REALLY like one of them (just make it up). That will give him an incentive to give you the best price. In that segment, I would stay away from any of the GM products.

hmmmm def. not a Ford Focus. I think Honda Civic would be the best option. I prefer VW!

i know a mechanic, one of the best in texas. he said when a toyota hits 100,000 miles it is barely broken in.

Honda and Toyota have developed a reputation for dependability. I bought a used Toyota and had it for years. Finally had to sell it because I moved and as far as I know the new owner still has it. Ford has never developed a reputation for dependability. If you feel better buying a car because a relative worked for them good for you. Personally, I would rather purchase a car that has the dependability reputation.
