Help buying a car for cold weather conditions...?
-
I'm moving to Anchorage Alaska and I plan on buying a car... I was thinking of a 1990-1996 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 however, I didn't know if there were any special things I was needed to know regarding cold weather conditions. Also, what do I need to inspect on a prospective vehicle while I'm checking it out... I'm pretty good with cars and I'm willing to learn. thanks

Answer:
then get the heaviest duty suspension that is made for that model, those roads up there can be hard on a truck, and I would suggest a set of bf goodrich all terrain TA for tires (with possibly two new ones on stock rims for spares. I have friends who go up there every year, they take heavy duty trucks, and if the body is beat up a little so much the better, whats important is the mechanical aspects. I dont personally know about winter conditions up there, but someone on y a does lets see what they say. good luck
