What do you think of the current VW GTI?

Ive just test driven a vw bora 1.8t (180bhp) s##ts all over the vwgolf gti 2.0 what do you think of the two?

  • Answer:

bora is a better car but you will lose more money on it with the depreciation. it's a pity, because it's a better looking car too.

Apart from the engine they are the same car underneath. The power may appear more due to the torque produced by the turbo. Personally I prefer the torque of the 1.8t but appreciate the smarter tuning of a normally asperated engine.

buy a 1.8t golf gti holds its value better

You would need to be paying a lot less for the Bora than the Golf. Doesnt hold its value as well. Basically the same car underneath but its overlooked because of the Golf. The 1.8t engine is one of Vw,s weaker units. Take a look on e bay just to see how many of these units fail. There are loads of Passats, Golfs etc advertised with problems. Buy a Civic Type R, goes like s**t off a shovel and you wont break it.

Are you referring to the New Golf Gti? Cos it has 20hp more and is also a Turbo. The old one was not a GTI it was completely average and comfortable. If you can stretch your budget a new gti is well worth a look at.
