What is the best website to buy a used car, and what kind of tips can you give me? Looking to get one for around $10,000

Answer:
Go to Carmax, they have clean used cars with a guarantee. If you want a real bargain, you really have to know cars, and you wouldn't be posting a question on this. Today Carmax has a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4D Wagon for $9,849. Carmax has definite prices, and a full inventory to search. They mostly sell used cars, so it is not a sideline business like it is to a car dealership.

Edmunds.com is one of the best new and used car sites. It includes reviews on used cars from owners and others. If you put in your zip code, you can locate cars in your area.

cars.com is the best by far. Don't buy one that doesn't have a lot of pictures.
I came to the conclusion that if you get a credit report yourself, you can safe that money at your local dealer, because they charge much for this service. So get your credit report and bring it to your car dealership and you can save the money and it speeds up the process. I will attach the site where I got this idea from, and I saved a lot just for this little "trick".
Not sure there is a "best" site. Here's a list of some of the most popular sites: http://www.used-car-advisor.com/usedcar-websites.htm However, buying online is always an extra risk unless you can find a seller who lives near you. It's a risk when you can't see the car, can't inspect it, can't test drive it, and can't talk directly to the owner, can't see the title, and can't look for oil spots where it's parked.

Take a look at www.autotrader.com or www.lotpro.com. An important thing to look at is mileage. Also check out the carfax report and look at the cars history before buying. Good luck.
