A question about ebay return.

EBay Return Question?

  • Hi there, I recently a boat trailer on eBay and I had not fully specified a return policy (lesson learned) The buyer had paid and picked up the trailer from me, I had given all original papers and bid him farewell. Three days later, the buyer contacted me about returning it to me because of some history he found out which I did not know about myself. Please note, the buyer had come and inspected the trailer (but never asked for any papers) before committing to buying it. Am I in anyway obligated to refund the buyer? If I do refuse, what sort of action can be taken if any against me? Thank you.

  • Answer:

You are under no obligation. He could complain about it to EBay, but they couldn't care less. If he has documented evidence that the trailer has a history, (which I doubt) you may consider, but I think he just is unhappy that he made the purchase. What could he possible have found out? That the trailer was used in a crime? That it's haunted? Anyone can sue you for anything at all, but that doesn't mean it will amount to a hill of beans. Don't worry. Tell him to mail you documents, but make no promise of any kind. He inspected it and bought it. He might have broken it this morning! You owe him nothing.
