Does anyone have any tips for saving up money for buying a car?

    There is no secret to saving money. Spend less money then you earn, that's how you save money. If you don't earn any money then you need to start. You can not spend what you do not have. The biggest mistake people make when buying a car is paying too much. Buying a car they really can't afford. A car should never cost more than one year's take home pay. A car payment should never be more than 20% of your monthly pay. If you make $24,000 a year then your car should never cost more than that. If you earn $2000 a month then your car payment should never be more than $400 a month.

Insurance, maintenance, taxes, etc. They tend to think only in terms of monthly payments.
