HELP ASAP LEMON LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

  • Where can i find something on a lemon law in tennessee? I just sold my truck and now the guy is saying that tennessee has a lemon law of 3 days to get your money back from who ever you bought it from where can i find stuff on the tennessee lemon law please help

  • Answer:

He's feeding you full of BS. No state has a return period on vehicles. California has a 48-hour policy on vehicles purchased from a dealer, but that policy isn't free... it's fee-based. Tell him to go fly a kite. Don't refund a cent. He had the opportunity to have the truck inspected by a licensed mechanic beforehand, and he chose not to do so. His loss. Once the title was signed, and he drove away, the truck and its issues became his. Here is a link to TN's government website for consumer affairs, explaining the Lemon Law... it only covers NEW vehicles, still under warranty. He needs to stop listening to his buddies, and do his own research --> http://tn.gov/consumer/lemon.shtml No 17-year old vehicle is covered under any Lemon Law, anywhere. People throw out the term "Lemon Law" acting like the seller should be frozen with fear.

The buyer is full of crap. First of all, there is no lemon law covering a 17 year old used vehicle. Second, lemon laws wouldn't apply to a private party transaction. Third, there is no right to return a vehicle. Private party vehicle sales are "as is" transactions. Tell the buyer to pound sand. You are under no obligation to do anything.

"please help"? You need no help. ALL USED CAR SALES ARE AS-IS! No need to know lemon laws in ANY state. Tell him to go to Hell. He does not have 3 days. He does not have 3 minutes. It's a 17 year old car for God Sakes! Tell him to F&^K off and leave you alone. He can either fix it, or let it sit. Those are his only options.

Haha...the guy is an idiot and is just using scare tactics. Let him sue you. He will lose. Lemon laws only apply to new cars and the warranty on a 16 year old vehicle is long gone. There is no such thing as a 3 day rescind period for an auto purchase in any state except CA, where it has to be purchased.

Stupid Flanders

Lemon laws do not apply on a 16 year old car. Unless there is a problem with the title? You have no obligation to take his phone call.

To my knowledge there is no three day rule for private sales. I think this page helps explain further http://www.lemonlaw.com/tennessee-lemon-law.html .

There is no lemon law in Tennessee on used cars. There is no 3-day try-it-out period. All private sales are considered as-is whether it is in writing or not. He had the right to inspect the vehicle and chose not to, or did and didn't do a very good job. I could buy a car off anyone and call them and say it has problems and I need money to fix them. How would the other person know that without seeing the car? Block his phone number. If you end up going to court it would take less than 2 minutes to rule in your favor because he bought a 17-year-old vehicle and expects a warranty with it. He lives in the land of make believe. I have a '95 F150 out here for $3,500. I seriously doubt he paid that much for his truck. Even though mine is priced higher, it has no warranty either. Think of it another way: if there was a 3 day return period anyone could go out, buy a vehicle and drive it around every 3 days returning it and buying another. They could also buy it just to pull parts off of it. Perhaps this guy saw yours cheap and had another one he had to work on and decided to buy yours, swap the parts and return it. Once it leaves your possession there is no telling what could have been done and this is why the law is the way it is here.

He is a moron and that would not apply, Oil light means he needs to do an oil change, Tell him to F Off and then block him number!
