How much is a 1998 mustang worth? rebuilt V6 new paint new clutch?

Which would be a better car, 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gt or 1998 mustang gt?

  • Alright I am trying to figure out what's a better car. 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 5speed 142k miles All leather, sunroof, loaded Rebuilt title Or 1998 mustang gt V8 automatic 118k miles Leather, power seat, loaded etc Clear title (I believe) The bluebook value is in favor of the mustang, but the eclipse seems more pratical . Any opinions?

    The Mustang is better because Mitsubishi never learned how to make an engine. They usually start burning oil at about 75,000 miles and need rebuilding.

If the Mitsubishi had a clean title and lower mileage I'd say go for it, but you can really get shafted with an R-titled car. For example: I have a Cherokee with an R-Title, but since it was repaired a few months prior to me purchasing it, you'd never know that it had been hit. But then one day the motor mounts broke. I don't know if they were fractured in the accident, or the bolts were over torqued during repairs or whatever, but what I do know is that it left me stranded and with a really sucky job to do. Also 142k is pretty high mileage, especially for a sports car that the owner probably beat the hell out of. The Mustang will get worse gas mileage, and unfortunately it is automatic, but that could mean that the guy who owned it wasn't hugely into cars. This can be a double edged sword. It could mean that he didn't take care of it, since he just wasn't that into it, but it could also mean that he wasn't hooning it and doing crazy *** brakestands and hard launches. Of course this is just an educated guess. Also the lower mileage helps it's case in my book, even if it isn't THAT low, and the clean title is a huge plus. If the Mustang is indeed at a good price I'd say go ahead and get it. You may pay a lot for gas (and speeding tickets), but you will probably have a hell of a fun time with it.

mustang will have better perfomance, better street cred. eclipse will be easier on the gas. mustang has less miles and seems like it has all the features that the eclipse has do you want a stick or an auto?

id look to switch the years. 02 stangs look much better and cost about the same. 98 eclipses look way better and ..... well they just look way better, specially if you get the gst or gsx

Definitely the Mustang dude. Too bad it's not manual but so what, its a GT and has a v8!
