2000 Pontiac Bonneville?

Is a 2000 pontiac bonneville with 182,000 miles too big of a risk?

• I'm shopping for a new car, and I've found a 2000 Pontiac bonneville for $3400 in my area. Now the owners are negotiable on the price, but this car has 182,000 miles on it. I've heard the 3.8 engine in it has a good reputation but what about the transmission? The owners have done a lot of maintenance and have all the records for the work done. I'm not a car person, so would any one be able to give me an opinion on whether this car is worth $3400 or not. 182,000 seems like a LOT of miles on an American car! Thanks so much :)

  I dont care how many maintenance records the car has, 3,400 is about 2,500 too high, I see this a lot in older people especially, they have unrealistic expectations, or they unfortunately had to put money into it, (like the rest of us, you never get all your money out of a car) pass, keep looking, these front engine front wheel drive cars were no good new, its no better now, The price may, or may not come down, who cares, what you need to keep an eye out for is a nissan, a honda, or a toyota, and if all wheel drive interests you keep an eye out for a nice well cared for subaru.
