How to make a Princess Jasmine costume top?

• I am making a Princess Jasmine costume for Halloween this year :D I'm doing pretty good with the wig, jewelry, and harem pants. The only thing I am struggling with is how to construct the blue top she wears in the movie (idk what its called). Some people have suggested I sew over a bra but I'm not exactly comfortable exposing so much skin seeing as I am only 17 years old. I don't have a problem showing my stomach a little but I don't want to look slutty. I want the top to be snug and a few inches below my bust. I even looked at a bandeau pattern but all that did was confuse me, lol I'm ashamed to call myself a fashion major xD I've seen Jasmine cosplays where the top either had darts or elastic but I don't really like how it looks. I'm also confused as to how to attach the shawl-like sleeves. So basically my question is: is it possible to create a top that looks exactly like the one Jasmine wears in the movie without darts, and how do I attach the sleeves? If not then I have to settle for those ugly looking darts >,< BTW if it helps, I'm using chiffon fabric P.S. - oh yeah and should I use a zipper or buttons for the top and pants? Thanks

  heyy! thats really cool. I think you could get like a cami and get some really flowy fabric. You could like cut the cami to where it would be shorter, and then create larger sleeves that would not be on your shoulders like her shirt thing is because the sleeves like go across her shoulders and then sew some really pretty flowy fabric to the bottom of the cami so it wont look slutty-ish i guess. lol idk how this will work but it was the 1st thing that popped into my head.
