HELP! I have some questions about art & beauty (essay)..?

• Hi, I have a question for my essay, and some help will be much appreciated. What are the essential characteristic of beauty? & What are the essential characteristics of art? This will help make my definitions for both art and beauty, separately. Essay Question: Must art be beautiful? I`m answering yes to this question. Thus, my main conclusion is: Yes, are must be beautiful. When my outline was assessed by the leader she said my points we`re not relevant enough. So can you please help me with 3 sub-conclusions, so I can make points or reasons for those sub-conclusions. Thank you very much for your help in advance.

  Beauty is something or someone that is pleasing to the eye/senses. It often brings rise to a strong feeling of pleasure. It often varies from culture to culture. Art...that's a tough definition. I would say art is something that a human being creates that affects the senses, emotion and intellect. No, I don't think art needs to be beautiful. Part of what makes some art so incredible is that it really makes us react. Sometimes something ugly or awkward will make us think and react the most strongly. Plus it would be hard to define what art is beautiful, because the notion of beauty ranges from person to person.
