What are known art types? (not just visual art - read the detail :D)?

  This looks a *lot* like the top-of-the-head list I posted to another question a couple of week/s ago. Yes, you're missing some big things. What you're missing most of all is a description of what you consider a distinct art type. You've differentiated between voice and instrument for musical performance, but you've lumped all of written expression into one heading. You're not discriminating by medium, as you've put "sculpture" into one heading. In more specific terms, you've left off a lot of time-based art and several classes of 3-D expression. Music creation Theater (all facets, not merely the voices out front) Light as a medium (vis. the John Lennon beacon in Iceland, neon art) Martial arts -- lifestyle as an art form Storytelling (crosses the classifications you've given) Conceptual art Stand-up comedy Certain types of computer programming -- for instance, there is a contest every year for the *least* obvious program, one that does something interesting, but is virtually impossible to read. This has been going on for at least 20 years, and the programs just keep getting ... "better". Social interactions -- for instance, every April 1, there's a huge semi-formal contest for Net hoaxes, one that dates back to the days before the Internet. Is security hacking for political statement an art form?
