Should I write a screenplay?

• I am currently going to Film School and in my 2nd quarter. I have about 2 years more till graduation. The next class I would take would probably be a screenwriting class. I had a class prior to this one that helps generate ideas for film,books and novels. I have an idea for a screenplay and I might write it for my final project for this class. Question is it really isn't a creative story but a experience I know that someone went through. It is a new kind of Love Story I think people would like. Should I write it? Also, where would I have to send it if I wanted someone to look at it when it is done?

  I took a screenwriting class with a professor I have had two classes with before. I really liked him as a teacher and have always wanted to pursue my interest in film and creative writing. Although I had a general idea of the formatting and process of screenwriting, it was overall a really good experience that made my interest grow; I think that if you have a general interest you should see where it leads you as well. I am now working on some future productions and continue writing in my free time. I wasn't really able to use many of my original ideas, however, for the class, as the topics didn't apply, but maybe your class will give you more freedom. You can submit your screenplay to independent festivals, independent filmmakers. You could talk to your schools film department, who would work with you to a certain extent for sure.
