Religious Studies, Presentation Ideas Please? ?

  • Im doing a presentation along with 4 other people for my uni religious studies class and im looking for interesting ideas on what to do it on? It can be on absolutely anything! Though obviously something more imaginable then just a religion like Islam or Christianity! More say on a certain interesting sect/idea/concept/thing! It can be present or pass, (i was hoping to find something relating to alcohol?)The last two presentation groups did theirs on the Hindu god Sheba and the Jewish discipline Kabbalah, so you have an idea on what im after. I would like to engage the class somehow, make it fun and interesting. There's only around 20 in the class and the presentation will be open and kinda informal if you know what i mean. Please don't state obvious answer's like moses or adam and eve etc. Any ideas people? Thanks! Note: Im not religious myself but my own personnel beliefs are irrelevant.

    not sure if you include ancestral gods ,like the nordic gods ,that pend a lot of time drinking mead[fermented honey]. or the greek gods that drank a lot of wine and ambrosia . they even have a god for this sort of thing,called bacchus. hope it is some help to you

The human race have an inbuilt desire to worship or look up to something higher than ourselves, and when Chairman Mao took communist rule over China, their ancient religion of Buddism was banned. This then meant that the 'god' fugure in people's lives was Mao himself. You could talk about Mao's effect on the people and rules he brought in, and the effect his death also had on the thousands of people who revered him. Mao infact was only a man and made mistakes like a man. He actually upset the balance of nature by getting people to bang stick together to scare away birds from the crops. This prevented the birds from eating parasites on the land and when many birds died of starvation, the next animal on the food chain had nothing to eat either.

Why dont you try doing it in Zoroastrism? It has always been one of my favorite religions of the past.
