How to I fix the below issue? Pleas ONLY Real answers, THANK YOU?

Can the superintendent or "resident manager" charge me money for after hour emergencies or help?

  • I think this is ridiculous last night me and my boyfriend left the keys in my apartment and we didn't realize it until we already closed the door. We were doing laundry and carrying a lot of things that we accidentally forgot. My roommate was not in the city so I couldn't get to her so I had no choice but to get the superintendent or better call her resident manager.. to open the door for us to my home. She was extremely disrespectful and rude as soon as we asked her. She said that next time if it happens again she will charge $50 I mean really? you have to charge me every time there is an emergency? or when I need your help for after hours? I mean this is your job! I lived in other apartment buildings before and never have they charged me for little things like that.. they always were there to help and do their job. Me and my boyfriend are really really nice and we asked nicely so there was no excuse for her attitude and for charging us for a responsibility she has to commit to! same thing when store owners have to come in when there is an issue with the store or the employees. In this apartment building there are a lot of students living here and I'm guessing that's why they treat us so rude and just step on us but we haven't been disrespectful what so ever I swear these woman are just corrupted and this is not the only issue that has happened with them. So I would love to know if they have right to charge me for things like this? it would be appreciated if someone shows me a link or anything of legal rules? anything by law I need to know cause this apartment building smells fishy.. thanks :) Additional Details I am not Absolutely NOT immature I am really responsible and the fact and the REALITY is that it can happen to ANYBODY! Is any one of you perfect and never make a mistake? NO what if I had a baby in my hand and carrying so much things and as a busy mother I forgot and left it in the table thinking I put it in my pocket? IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYBODY AT ANY TIME!! what if somebody stole my keys while i was walking across the street?? Look life isn't perfect!! no one is perfect!! so all of you have not answered my question yet!! The issue is not the people living in this building because every single person living in this building is not perfect! and first of all it was not a hard task to do!! Just pass me the key please and thank you I was very polite and I apologized in the beginning she did not have to leave the house what so ever! she just opened the door WOOW is that so hard and frustrating to just open the door and just pass me a key!! really?? look this does not mean that she gets to treat me like **** and charge me for something she is already payed to do, I don't pay her for extra hours! are you kidding?? the people she works for does simple as that. does an employee having an issue in the store needs to pay the owner of the store to come to the store and fix an issue or problem the worker is having be it ANYTHING?? or a hotel, if you forgot your room key the front desk will let you in. This is HER JOB! sure it sucks and students can drive you crazy! but If she doesn't like working there then she can get another job elsewhere!! and why be rude to people who are extremely nice and just need a little tiny help? That BARELY NEED MUCH WORK! I'm sorry please give me more reasonable and HUMANE answers thank you very much.

This is the fourth time you have posted this lengthy rant. The answers are NOT going to change. The resident manager is NOT on call 24/7, and it is NOT her job to chase around after you when you forget your keys inside your apartment. It makes NO difference that this may be student housing. Get out into the REAL world and find out what it will cost you if you lock yourself out of your apartment. If you are LUCKY, the superintendent will be around to unlock your door for a fee. If he's NOT around, you get to call a locksmith. For some reason, you seem to think student housing is different. It's NOT.
