I would go to school and study it. If you want to learn about poetry, your best bet is to read about it, read poems and read other information that doesn't seem like it means anything. Hope you find a good place. Also, you may want to look up some of the best in each of their fields and just study what they do. Audre Lorde, Fran Quinn, Mari Evans, Donald Justice, the list goes on...Jung did some critical writing, then Wordsworth and those other classical/romantic writers. It's just going to take some research.

writing is my gift

Art is very subjective. There are those who choose to go to school and learn about criticism and those who educate themselves about literature. These are two distinct areas. Critics aren't necessarily literary creators themselves. Find out what your area of interest is and then pursue it because there are different guidelines for each of these categories.

Easiest way: by reading. Through knowledge from reading you can learn how novels are made; what is drama and how to act; learn how to write and appreciate verse (poetry); and learn the principles of critiquing (which is more than criticism). Learn critiquing and you can both analyze objects with a critical eye, and know why to criticize. The question to be answered is --why-- and from there you'll learn reason.
