i've made a tote bag before, but never a messenger bag. umm, i googled "how to make a messenger bag" and this is what popped up: http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-a-messenger-bag-177774/ i didn't watch it, so i don't know if it's any good, but hopefully it will show you the fabric you need and where to cut and where to sew and yadda yadda. i bet if you go to some fabric selling store that has cut out patterns, you can find one for a bag of some sort. i'm sorry i'm not much help. good luck anyway :)
