• Can you help me a little bit in art? I'm not an artist so i need your help for my TOK questions tha they gave me. 1)Brainstorm a definition of political art 2)Write what you expect to find when looking at art that is deemed political. 3)Describe what you think is going on in Guernica, and why. 4)Hows does Guernica compare to a photograph. How is it similar? How is it different? What yould be the impact of this work if it were in color instead of black and white?

  if guernica were in colour it would be too distracting the impact of the pain & shock on the peoples faces would be blunted as it was a black and white affair - It isnt similar to a photograph because it says much more than a millisecond in time could say although many iconic photographs have captured the sense of outrage at war. Political art is a shortcut to waking you up about what is happening - Most of the time we are too overwhelmed by what happens in the world to actually take it in - Art is a way to understanding by talking to our sensory communication channels that are not so furred up with gunk as speech. I personally expect to be shocked and have to make room in my mind for the inconceivable.
