Speech help?

Speech writing help greatly appreciated?

  • Hey! I am currently writing a speech for my school's National Honor Society induction ceremony, for I am this year's President. I want to make my speech witty, entertaining, and interesting. Thus far, here is what I have written... "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. My name is [insert my name here], and I am the current, humbled President of the Naional Honor Society. This evening, I start with the premise that leadership serves to create more leaders, than followers." Okay, so I am extremely bored with my speech thus far. What would be a funny anecdote to introduce the speech with? For example, one person began his speech by saying that when he was bored, he had a bald spot in his hair. And that bald spot represented a void in his life, which the National Honor Society filled.... What would be an interesting, witty, attention-grabbing anecdote to introduce my speech with?
