Does anyone have an idea for an art piece?

Is this a good idea for my final design in art?

  • I am doing Fine Art for GCSE and our theme is Water. For our final piece we are allowed to incorporate anything to do with water. I'm also a fan of things like Ancient Mythology and was wondering about doing some sort of painting to do with the Ancient Greek Monster, Charybdis. I want my work to stand out and be different, as well as doing a piece about something I enjoy as much as art. So please, could you tell me what you think of this idea and could anyone give me a good reference on where to get more information about what the sea monster in question looks like (I know it's a form of whirlpool but is there any extra detail?). Thanks for your time guys :)

sounds brilliant, I've had a quick search around but couldn't find anything, but that gives you a big advantage, nobody knows what it looks like so its up to you and therefore you're likely to get an original idea. I did GCSE art last year and did marine life and i went with mythical creatures too and I got an A and I did a lot less work than others who got Bs so. That sounds like a fascinating idea!:) I have to do art gcse in a short while and am struggling to think! I wish I came up with an idea like that! Anyways, yep I think it could really work with the whole water aspect, but be careful not to drift to much from the topic, my sister got marked down because she apparently 'beat around the bush' if you know what I mean. hope I helped, sorry I don't have any ideas Bout websites:(

check out Homer's Iliad - the Argonauts, presumably in translation, that'll get you started - great story regardless edit it is a great idea, also try the Corry Vreckan in the Hebrides, there may be Celtic folklore there that would help.
