What is mid voice?

What tips will help me to make my voice deeper for voice over class, but at the same time sound natural?

• I am taking a one-day personal interest class on voice overs. Part of the class ( this will be my third time), you get evaluated for reading part of a script. You get recorded, then someone calls you with evaluation results if you want to be evaluated. Well, the last time I got evaluated, I was told I have a "child's voice". I don't think I really have a child-sounding voice. However, I do have a high voice, especially when I'm in my perky mode. I can sound less perky, but I still will have the high voice kind of. I was told in the evaluation that if I went for voice over career, I'd be doing toy commercials or stuff, and that is limited, but I am wanting to learn how to deepen my voice by still sound natural so in my next evaluation, I can avoid being told I would not be able to do adult voice overs ( my age is days from 33 in case anyone is wondering).   Speak more slowly, pronounce consonants more sharply, and don't swallow open vowels like o and a. Pronounce the other vowels a little bit farther back in your mouth, and think of speaking with a continuous column of air from your diaphragm to your mouth. Baritones also use the trick of pulling the lower jaw back a little and tilting the head very slightly downward, which also opens the eyes and makes you look more sincere and a bit older. A "perky" voice is the opposite--words are spoken at the front of the mouth, and speaking too fast makes the voice high and thin.
