What type of house is these?

What type of house would you live in?

  • What I mean is, if it were possible to live in *any* type of house (house made of feathers, house made of coconuts, house made of marshmallows....) what house would you live in? If you could design it in any way you wanted, make it do any sort of cool little tricks, what would you do? Be creative with this. This question was inspired by Howl's Moving Castle and by a song that I misheard and thought it said "House made of feathers"....

  • Answer:

Oooh fun question. And here comes my completely non-creative answer. I want a house made out of trees. Not like a whole bunch of cut-up dead trees. I want to live like...in the middle of a forest with forest people! Like...see?! I don't even know how to explain it..but I read this book once a super-long time ago where everybody lived in tree-houses. The trees were living trees that just bent over and twisted together to make a house. So I'd want a pretty birch tree-house type of place. Pretty vines and red berries would be my decoration. My chairs and tables and stairs would all be made up of the all the roots from the trees. Same with my bed except there would be feathers to lay on. Except this has to be in my little perfect world where it's sun-shiny most of the time and when it rains it's always light and pretty and makes my tree-house grow. Grass would be my floor because it's cushy and pretty and it smells good after you cut it. When the wind blew, my tree-house would sway back and forth and it would be awesome. When fall came, there would be enough branches to keep my roof from leaking but all the colorful leaves would fall and it would just be so pretty! I know..that must sound REALLY weird. And I'm sure there are going to be many more interesting answers. But I just love the idea of living in a little alcove of trees. Haha :) Edit: I'm reading Howl's Moving Castle right now haha. It's really good! @ e cole i: Oh my goodness, I absolutely adore houseboats! They're so awesome. I mean, come on...they FLOAT! :)

So, I'm pretty content with the house I currently live in. It's got doors and other homely necessities ... You know? Like a roof and frangipani fairy-lights and a Nintendo DS. And 4 jars of Vegemite ... But otherwise, the house I'd like to live in would have wings. It would be at least ten stories high too. You can never have enough floors in a house. To those who have been blessed enough to see my artwork, you will know castles are my specialty. So, I'd most likely draw the house plan for my castle, and get hobbits and unicorns to build it for me. I'll pay them well. With food. Exotic Australian food (fairy bread, Vegemite, lamingtons, Pavlova) God, I'm stingy. You know what? I'm going to draw my house, because I'm lacking in descriptive skills this morning. I tried doing my homework of writing a creative response on the concept of belonging (IDK!?!?!) and nothing appeared. All I know is that it will have wings. And possums that guard it. (My school has possums in the roof. It's pretty funny). And turrets that spurt fire. And other things ... I'll do my homework first (I hate you, homework, you fascist demon), and then draw it. Because I'm trying to actually do my homework satisfactorily this year. That is all ... I'll be back. Keep this open, or I will eat you. EDIT: 2 million hours late, and I've drawn it. If you laugh at it, I swear, I will eat you. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x127/elizasrank/wtfcastle.jpg @ Lyra: I think we might be twins. HP and P&P are my faves before Howls Moving Castle :D

Don't be silly! My house would obviously be made on turtles and books ^_^ @ Kelly: Thank you ^_^ I was thinking maybe the turtles could be stacked on top of one another to make a wall-ish thing, and the supports and pillars could be made of books! :) @ Billet: I did not laugh, in case you could read minds or something. ;) But the hobbits are about to begin construction on mine, so I'll send them over as soon as they're finished!!

D⁴[Hell yes, Pottermore!]

http://metchosin.org/HatleyCastle/Castle.jpg it's a castle. and i want nothing more than to just live in a castle. i want a dungeon and a thousand rooms and a huge kitchen in the basement and giant hallways and hidden trap doors and passageways and a giant attic and castle turrets and a moat, and a stable. ps: that castle is the one that lex luthor lived in in smallville.

While I love all of the complicated answers everyone else has made, my dreamhome is very simple. I would like to live on a houseboat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lake_Bigeaux_houseboat.JPG

I wish I had more time to answer this, but I'll come back and add details. I'll do a normal answer right now and a creative answer later! Normal answer: A plain, rectangular, brick house. With about an acre of land, total. Something like this: http://www.channel4.com/4homes/images/mb/Channel4/4homes/architecture/styles-of-architiecture/1930s-brick-house-lg.jpg only less congested. There's this house down my street which is perfect, and I would move in immediately if they put it on sale. I love it to death. It reminds me of Jane Austen. Creative answer: My house would be a mansion. It would fly. It doesn't have wings. It runs on happy, sunflowers, and time (HAHA get it). It has turrets and heated stone floors. It has giant paintings and sculptures everywhere. It has a throne room which is also the library. This room is is about a mile in length, width, and height. It is it a perfectly square room because squares are perfect and so are books. There will be ladders and a thousand shelves with a million books. And floating candles because they're magic. And then there will be a bunch of guestrooms where all my friends can stay. And I'll have a few reserved for those who visit frequently. If any do at all... which they WILL because who wouldn't want to visit a fantastic castle like mine? The kitchen will be the best. The dining room even better. The dining table will be made of cherrywood and the chairs will have intricate carving. There will be a fireplace in each of the main rooms. There will be a ballroom which will never be used because I don't like dancing so why would I have a ball. OOOOH BUT MAYBE WE'LL DO GIANT SLEEPOVERS IN IT!!! How fun would that be?! And then there would be a paradise-like room for all the Pokemon I own (and of course, I own 150). And there would be a perfect habitat for platypi because platypi are my favorite and I must have them. And there will be a door which opens to different places (I know I'm stealing from HMC), and they will be: my hometown, the English moors, Sydney, Hogsmeade, and any other place I wish to add but can't currently think of. And all the furniture will be 1800s-based because those were the days. And I'll have a beautiful grand piano in a music room which will also be home to a variety of other instruments, including the violin because I'd really like to learn it. And I'll have another room for art because I'll definitely need some good space for my painting. This whole answer took me about a half hour to 40 minutes. Excepting the normal answer part. @Joshms: Oh no! Try this link: http://s901.photobucket.com/albums/ac212/Lyra42/?action=view&current=lyrasmovingcastle.jpg

Lyra [and the Future]

I would have multiple houses. 2 underground houses disguised as bus stops. They would be along the Canada-America and America-Mexico borders so I could tunnel underneath and bypass showing my passport. I would make a living ferrying illegal immigrants into conservative politicians' bedrooms, recording their reactions, and becoming a viral video sensation.

Hindi Sad Diamonds

House of butterflies Where it constantly flutters and different rooms have different colored butterflies. They retain the heat and cool (from air conditioner and heater) but if you fall against the wall, they will flutter away and you will fall through the wall (they come back immediately and fill in the space again). The floors are like sand but the sand doesnt stick to your feet. The ceiling is covered in black birds or ravens (they don't poop--they're magical). There are so many of them that the rain can't break through. They are constantly flying away and coming back.

Mine would be a giant toadstool, the red ones with white polka dots. It's chimney would be a giant trumpet and it would honk. Oh and the walls would be bookshelves full of books so wherever I was there were access to books oh and the stairs would be stretchy candy that would rejuvanate so I could eat the stairs but they'd come back. The floor would be made of cloud and would be soft but easy to balance on.
