What can I do if I go into the criminal justice major?

Can I go to school for social work with an associates degree in criminal justice?

  • I will be receiving an associates degree in criminal justice from my local community college this spring and I want to transfer to become a social worker. Is it a good idea that I got a degree in criminal justice rather than an associates in liberal arts, do you think this will benefit me just as well? I'm looking for answers from anyone who is a social worker or did something similar, thanks so much for all of your help ahead of time. I appreciate it.

  • Answer:

Yes you can transfer into a four year program in SW with that degree. However, you really need a masters to earn the most and do the most. The CJ degree is good, a psych or soc degree may have been a bit better, but not all that much.
