How do you become a pen pal with a prisoner in Canada, USA or other countries?

• Particularly interested in becoming pen pals with a female prisoner. But curious how this occurs for both men and women. Why do people become pen pals with prisoners? What has your experience been as a pen pal with a prisoner? More interested in the Canadian Justice System but also curious about the process for the USA or even other countries.

  Your local Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings have pamphlets on how to write to inmates, and they have volunteers that go inside local jails and prisons and other institutions to provide AA and/or NA meetings to inmates. The District AA and NA offices also have pamphlets and members that voluntarily go inside many prisons beyond the local area to provide AA and NA meetings to both women and men.
