  • Answer:

The ARTICLES of Confederation allowed for the colonies to form a national government of sorts to 'run' the country. The Articles were mainly used as a document to create a league of friendship between the states. Because of King George, colonists were scared of a central government. The positives were: -The states came together to work as a nation to prevent Britain from regaining control. -There was no central figure taht could become a dictator to the new government. The negatives were: -The national government could not tax the states or the people. They could ask for funds, and such requests could be denied. -There was no quick military action. The states had to approve all spending, including calling on the army to defend the country. IE Shays's Rebellion: The farmers of Massachusetts were upset over debt and taxes. The government could not send military reinforcements because one state would not approve the funding for it. -The Articles were almost impossible to amend; The AOC called for a 13/13 approval of any amendments to prevent a feeling of dictatorship.
