If your a paralegal can you interview a client?

Social worker - client mock interview for college course!?!?

  • Next week my partner and I have to do a 15 min social work and client role play of an initial intake interview. I have no idea what would be the best situation to use (ie who is the client and what is their issue) and what questions to ask that could make it 15 mins long.... any ideas?

  • Answer:

First, understand that 15 minutes will pass very quickly. I suspect that your course has provided you with a general outline for a standard intake interview, or at least a list of items to be covered. Start with introducing yourself by name and position. Ask open-ended questions or ones that can't be anwered with just "yes" or "no". For example: "How can I help you?" or "What brings you into our office today?" From there, just ask open-ended questions to follow up on whatever information your "client" gives you. On your part, ask questions about their current problem, how and when it started, what they've done so far to solve it, present family constellation, etc....
