What is the institution?

What is the difference between a social institution and political institution?

  • I have to write a paper and am kind of confused on where the two differ. If you could provide me with some examples of what the two would be that would be great =)

  • Answer:

Here's my unqualified answer: A social one deals with problems and such that effect society, but they aren't politically active. They may speak for the cause of the vulnerable in society without taking sides with any particular political party. They may not even touch on politics, though a political party (any) may be used for their purpose. I'd say that a political institution often holds it's own survival as more important then the issues, and sets out to persuade others that only their party can solve the issues.
