What kind of social consequences would the mechanization of workers have on society?

  • Any aspects or perspectives are welcome But I'm looking for particularly negative consequences Thanks

  • Answer:

The mechanization of workers has been going on for many years and it is moving into more and more types of work. A more common term used today is process improvement. This involves creating efficiencies in processes that involve human labor. The processes have simplified much work and has taken most decision making away from the workers. The consequences has been the commodification of the work force. People are dehumanized and treated exactly the same by many managers and supervisors. Employees in many companies are referred to as head count, not employees, not associates, but head count. Loyalty is a quality that has diminished over the years. Creativity and thoughtfulness have probably declined, society is much more fractured. You would be mistaken if you identify any negative consequences wholly to the streamlining of business processes, many other factors are in play. The positive, business produces more product or service with fewer people and less cost in many cases. Depending on your perspective, this could also be a negative.
