What does speed dating refer to?

Speed dating, your thoughts....?

  • I'm sure all of you are familiar with speed dating. You attend a dating mixer where you meet a lot of potential lovers and you sit down with them for about 3 minutes and run the numbers. As I get older, I find this form of dating more appealing. How about you.

    There used to be this event in my town but I think it has stopped. I would actually welcome the idea. The challenge of it sounds interesting. When I'm out and about, I usually have no idea if any given woman is single, available, AND looking. At these events, all of that applies. For me 3-5 minutes is PLENTY of time. Both women and men know in the first 3 minutes of "first contact" if they want to continue the path of knowing more. As for competition? I welcome it. Men face competition on a daily basis. The dating environment is no different. So, she meets 10 men during one event and chooses two for further contact. That means she actually chose what she wanted and didn't just choose because she only had one option and was lonely/desperate. The same goes for the men. How often does a man put all of his effort into just one woman who happens to be his only date for the month/quarter/year?

Yeah all a guy has to do is show is WALLET. That can be done in less than 3 minutes. Women don't care about anything else. The only reason they cap it at 3 minutes... is to give the girl some time to pretend she is NOT a whore.

I think if you go into it with a fun spirit, you can enjoy yourself and make new friends. Don't take it too personally and just have a good time. The Man, on the other hand, would probably have to put a fat wallet on the table because his social skills are so deplorable...lol!

I think it sounds like fun. But then it does mean that a girl there is comparing you against every other man in the room. So you'd need something memorable to say and have ideas in case conversation dried up.

Unfortunately, I think the sort of people who speed date aren't the kind I'd want to date. But it IS a quick introduction to someone so you don't have to waste an hour having a drink with a gyu you know you don't like. Abd I'd think for guys, it saves them money, if they are the sort who buy the first round.
