What is an assertion?

What pathological need does the "all women are lesbians" assertion fill...?

  • ...in some men? Usually, the misogynist trolls are as transparent as glass, but this assertion puzzles me. Are they: a) Making excuses as to why they can't get sex? b) Do they think it offends us? c) Or are they projecting fantasies? I can't quite get this one.

    Most people don't realize this, but the more a man feels threatened by women's rights, and self reliant women, the more he seems to believe (wrongly of course) that all women are secretly lesbians, wanting to replace men. Due to their deep-seated paranoia about women not "needing men" they want women to be clingy, weak, and helpless so he can believe women would never be able to survive on their own without a man to take care of them. Believe it or not, that's where a lot of these "man hater" and lesbian accusations come from.

It's an anxiety based assertion, for the most part. Anxieties revolving around not finding a partner leading to subsequent anxieties about not being attractive, not measuring up to an idealized masculine standard that passes for manhood. The assertion (which I haven't heard on GWS-not criticizing, just observing) provides an escapist illusion that shields the ego from criticism and projects it on to a scapegoat: women. It's a fear based stratagem as well, a world of lesbians means the end of heterosexual intercourse, it means the end of male sexual dominance-in this instance, the assertion/excuse/ego-protection becomes argument. P.S. Being a lesbian only means that she likes what I like. Cheers.
