What makes YOU a GOOD man?

  • Men often feel victimised in the battle of genders - however statistics speak for themselves. Below I have posted factual evidence showing that males are more often the offender than the victim. -- 'Men commit more crimes than women. In 2002 male offenders in England and Wales outnumbered female offenders by more than four to one.' 'Men outnumber women in all major crime categories. Between 85 and 95 per cent of offenders found guilty of burglary, robbery, drug offences, criminal damage or violence against the person are male. My husband, brothers, father and male friends are all good men. However, so many women and children are living with and daily being victimized by men who don't know the meaning of 'good'. I'm interested to hear what men think makes them a good man. Thanks!

    I consider myself a good man: 1. I do not let my wife do the laundry since I would prefer to do them. 2. I do all of the cooking in my family. 3. I do the majority of the house cleaning, dishes, feng shui. 4. I do all of the sewing and stitching. 5. I am a great father to our daughter and would rather do all of the fatherly duties and just let my wife relax unless she wants some parental bonding time. 6. Even after dating and being married for the last 3 years, I continue to open my wife's door when we're out and about. 7. I remember to do the little things for my wife. 8. I keep in touch with my dad (my mom passed away) and always invite him to my home for dinner as well as run some errands for him when he isn't able to. 9. I hold a pretty important position in church, so I try to live by good standards and be a positive role model to my daughter. 10. Not a day goes by where I haven't been able to make my wife laugh really hard. I try to keep the laughter going in my home no matter what. 11. I am very respectful of everyone even though I may get the short end of the stick and here on YA. 12. I am respectful of the elderly. I treat others the way I want to be treated. My wife and I have come to the decision that I would be a stay at home dad, since her degree brings home more money than if I worked the 9-5, and she's cool with it; she isn't a homebody anyway. Don't get me wrong, I do make a living as a DJ & Stand Up comedian. I would say that I'm a pretty good man.

Interesting statistics.....So what do I feel makes me a good man? I'm respectful first off, I don't disrespect women, I don't make it a practice to hurt wome, I'm upfront and honest about me and my feelings. If I'm dating you, then I'm dating you, that means that I may talk to other women as well, but I would let you know that. If I'm in a relationship, well then I'm not interested in other women. I'm hard working, affectionate, I have a job...lol a good job, I care about myself, I'm ambitious, intelligent, and no stranger to struggling and strife. I have seen many experiences in my life, overcame many obstacles and I never give up. I'm independent, talented, I can cook and clean...lol, financially I'm responsible, I don't was money, I'm an investor, I have good credit, my own home and cars. I'm good with my hands (especially in the bedroom) j/k, I'm open-minded, calm, firm when I need to be, and very thoughtful. I volunteer, help others, work out, stay pretty active, adventrous, and outgoing. I'm a people person, can carry a great conversation, and I love spending time with family, and friends.

I think what makes a man good is personal moral beliefs and the ability to follow through with those beliefs. What one person may consider a good man, maybe considered bad to others. The statistics listed in your question shows that men have a more aggressive behavior in nature. It does not show that men are generally more bad than women. The word "Good" I personally believe is what society defines as "Good," such as being a good father, good husband, good Samaritan. What makes me a good man personally....I provide not only monetary support to my family, but also the emotional support as well. I am not perfect as a person and I recognize it though dialog and communication with my family, friends, and co-workers. I try to provide a role model for my children so that they have an opportunity to be a "Good" person and make "Good" judgments in life so that others will perceive them as such. In the end, I keep myself in check to see if I have done everything I can to be a "Good" man to my wife, both my children, and finally the next person.

Men commit more crimes. However men invent everything. You should be happy men allow you to live in the society they invented, insted of demanding that men prove their "goodness" to functionally worthless people such as yourself. Cheers!

What makes me a good man is the fact that I don't think I am a good man. I am actually a jerk and an a**hole. I don't care about another persons feelings. I don't care about your issues. I don't care about anything, but my job and my job is taking care of my wife and daughter. Being a good person is a matter of perspective. I might kill a man which would put me in your statistics as a bad male. However, if I am killing the man to protect my wife and child but the law doesn't see it that way, then I am both good and bad in equal amounts. Often times, the only difference between good and evil is ones perspective. Your empiracal evidence is flawed. You have no idea why each of those incarcerated men did the things that they did. If it was done with good intentions then he joins me as being good and bad. If he did it for selfish reasons it still doesn't make him bad. Sexual offenses are pretty right on, however, I don't know many men that would complain of rape. It would be to humiliating to admit and your statistics could only prove that women are much better at getting away with their crimes. Crimes aside. Lets look at what violence. Women are documented at being much much more savage than males. They are out to hurt the other person badly. Men are out to establish their dominance and quite once that is achieved. Women will continue regardless of severity. What makes a man a good man is the motivation for the action. I will do anything to protect and bestow happiness upon the heads of my wife and child. My wife doesn't appreciate it, but my daughter does. I made a commitment and now I must see it through. That is what makes me a good man. Make no doubts. If there was an evil person on this planet, I would be int he competition. I depise stupid people. I have contempt for the lazy. I will challenge you with every stare and greet you kindly only if I think that you have or can do something that will help my wife and daughter in some way. That is what makes me a good man and a bad human being. Perspective. Remember that and you will be a better person also.
