What are some ridiculous or dangerous laws that have been passed in america?

Is America the most sexist country in the world?

  • I'm a Indian girl, I live in India but I grew up in America so I know what I'm talking about. Indian women are treated better than American women.. Sad but true. :( *There are no feminists in India. I've never heard the word 'feminism' in India. I guess we don't need any feminists because there aren't any sexist men in India. This only applies to Indian men in India though, the ones in America are westernized and turn into sexists *In India, male politicians come up with laws like: -Women pay less taxes than men -A man can get arrested for raising his voice to a woman -Women can only be portrayed naked in an artistic way .... and other male politicians vote for these laws to be passed. :O *Abortion is legal in India and no one wants to make it illegal. Its not even an issue here. Pro-life people are weirdos. I would never have an abortion myself but I'm not "pro-life" because I don't want to force my opinions on other people. Women should be able to make that decision for themsleves... because its their body and their life. *Why has America never had a female president? But India had its first female president (Indira Gandhi) 30 years ago and other female presidents since then (Sonia Gandhi)? Most Asian countries have had female presidents, China, Thailand, Philipines, even Pakistan! :O *India doesn't have a huge p0rn industry like America. No dirty magazines, no dirty movies and no p0rn empires run by 80 year old men..p0rn is not socially acceptable in our country. Its illegal to make it or watch it. And no, its not because we're prudes! We made the karma sutra. p0rn is just disgusting. *Women are treated like objects in western society. 1. Objects have no instrinic value (most American men care about looks more than personality). 2. Objects lose value with age (American men say that women have an expiry date). 3. Objects are replaceable (America has a high divorce rate, american men leave their wife/gf easily) In India, women don't have to apply makeup, get botox, facelifts, breast implants, plastic surgery, walk in heels, get our hair done, get our nails done, buy western clothes, shoes and bags, go on anorexic diets, wax our private hair and do a million other things just to please men. *In Indian culture, people (including women) are more valued as they get older. Because we're not objects, so our value doesn't depend on how we look. If I say an opinion, no one listens to me, they always say "silly american girl!" but everyone always listens to my grandma. Old people get the most respect in India. We don't isolate them in a rest home. They are a valuable part of our society and they can teach us a lot. In America, old people (men and women) are ignored and not respected. There are so many double standards about aging too. Why is George clooney, a 50 year old man with grey hair and wrinkles considered sexy in America? But a 50 year old woman never could be? In India, obviously 50 year old women aren't attrative either, neither are 50 year old men! But they're considered more "important" now that they're older. *I'm not religious but If I was I would be a Hindu or a Buddhist. Hinduism is the main religion in India. We have female goddesses and men worship female goddesses. Hinduism and Buddhism encourages love, peace, tolerance and most of all, equality. Unlike Christianity or Islam, even secular societies in the west are based on Christianity, with the basic belief that men are better than women Okay I could say a million more things but my fingers are sore from typing so much! Anyway, I don't think Indian society is perfect. Most Indian people have no clue about gay rights, disability rights or racism. We have a long way to go with that. But I honestly believe that Indian culture is better than American culture when it comes to sexism. In a way, Ameria is one of the most sexist countrires in the world.... What do you guys think?
