Can I transfer college?

I can't stand my liberal college. Should I transfer to a Christian college?

• I'm 19 & I hate my college. Even though I'm making good grades & have it all paid for, it's still a bad environment for me. All people do is drink, have premarital sex, do drugs, & party. I don't do that stuff. All the people there tell me to do is lighten up. That's just stupid. My pastor says I should find a more conservative college. The professors get onto me if I don't listen to their stupid lectures. My English teacher is making us do a paper on the Old Spice & Axe commercials & explain how they relate to sex. She got on to me for not participating. I told her that I thought it was unethical. I thought one of the purposes of college was to give your opinions on certain topics. College is a freaking joke. I hate it with a passion, but I want to work & get a degree. I know that America hates conservatives now, but at least I'm trying to make a difference in the world by going to college & working. Liberals don't have a problem with that. I'm not going to become a liberal because I like morals; that simple. I fear God, & I do what he tells me. I don't see how that makes me a bad person or an a-h0le like liberals think. Should I transfer, or just keep my mouth shut? We have no freedom of speech in the country anymore.

  The idea of a liberal education is to study numerous things, to challenge status quo beliefs, and to engage people who you don't agree with, but ultimately with the goal of understanding discrete subjects and broader structures/ideas better. Academia does tend to have a left-bend to it, but if you are truly convinced that you are being treated unfairly by professors because of your conservative views, you can complain to the dean and to others in the administration (they will take you seriously). As for the social scene at your college - those people have just as much right to engage in that behavior as you have to abstain from it. Sheltering yourself from other people because you disagree with their lifestyle can make you close-minded and intolerant. However, if you truly cannot stand to be there, then seek out a conservative Christian school, but just remember that you will be choosing to be around others like you rather than around all sorts of different people from whom you may learn something.
