How many countries are there in the world?

Hi, I'm a bit confused. I read an article in the newspaper about a person who visited 245 counties in 7 years and he was awarded with Limca Books of records. However, i just googled and noted that there are only 193-195 countries in the world. I'm quite surprised to see this. How can he visit 245 countries considering the fact that there are only 195 countries in the world. Please advise.
