Why do most people in the black community hate W.E.B Du Bois?

• I remember reading in history about how he encouraged blacks to keep their own culture instead of conforming to white customs like Booker T Washington. Although, this was a while ago so I may be wrong but... Why do most black people dislike him then? I say most, because recently I've been watching a lot of tv and african-american characters that suck up to the white guy are usually name "Du Bois" or they mention an organization made by Du Bios (besides the NAACP) that was made to keep blacks "down'. Any experts care to enlighten me?

  I am no expert but W.E.B Du Bois was in favor of blacks maintaining their own culture, while Washington was more in favor of "sucking up" to whites to keep the peace. I'm not completely sure but I believe that black people disliked Du Bois's separatist ideas.
