What has happened to the world?

  • As I look around me I see people who live a life without change. People who live their entire life in a circle. Eat, Work,Eat, and Sleep just so you can wake up and go to work again. What ever happened to that world where everything wasn't so industrialized??? What happened to that world where everyone was like family??? What happened to the world where honor, dignity, and glory actually meant something?!?!? What happened to the world where people had to hunt to get food and search to get water??? What happened to the world where there was sword-fighting instead of mindless guns and bombs!?!? Today ANYBODY can kill people with these "guns" and "bombs" and other things that really should have not been invented. I swear humans will be the death of themselves. And if it wont for those "power hungry rich people" that we call government then all humans would be dead as people would kill each other as sport. If you ask ANYBODY in the USA to change their lifestyle 99% of the people CAN'T do it. It also seems that the majority of the people living in the USA are BLIND to what is going on in their lives. It should be called the "United States of Amnesia" because it seems like nobody can remember or perhaps they just don't care. What if mother-nature decides it doesn't want us to life like we do? What if nature decides it doesn't like all the pollution we are putting into the sky or into the water? Perhaps mother-nature will decide to just eliminate all humans to remove this problem... Each and every species has a purpose in life except for humans.

    Every statement you made is true and every question you mentioned I wonder about, as well. There are very few people out there that are TRYING to help the world in some way, but the thing is, there's more people that are ruining it. So, who wins? I don't think there's any way humanity can survive much longer with all the horrible things that keep happening every single day. Something's gotta give.

So what are you doing to change? I live in Detroit and I have vowed to stay here and change my community for the better. I choose to recycle and use green products around my home. I choose to educate myself on the planet and history and so forth. I go to church and am kind to my brother, animals and the planet. I try and kill and grow my own food. I choose to drive a car that emits low pollution and gets 35MPG if I cannot take public transportation. I do for my community and try and help those less fortunate. I respect my wife and family and do my best. So, instead of writing b.s. and crying about things....what are you doing to change your impact on this earth?

I'm of the school of thought that says that there is nothing new under the sun, at least as far as humans are concerned. Think about it: our tools and technology are different, but the human condition is the same as always, with the same "good" and "bad" tendencies. We shape our morality by the same impulses, are as dependent upon fellow humans as always, and have an innate desire to be free of our fellow humans at the same time. In fact, tribalism has not changed; it's merely enlarged its scope and sphere of influence. We are not so different from our ancient ancestors. Except we are more spoiled. I think the idealized world you speak of never really existed. Most people, for most of human history, lived in the same places doing the same things every day. Some were blacksmiths, some were fisherman. They worked to put food on the table and they were lucky if they lived to be 40. yes i wonder about all these things, and i definately agree that humans will end up killing us all off. But until that happens we can only look for the good and try and live our lives the best we can..
